Philosophy |
![]() Physical education is an important part of the school curriculum. It teaches students about physical fitness and how to become physically fit. Physical education also teaches students many different types of sports skills and activities which they will be able to participate in for the rest of their lives. Physical education promotes a time for working together and socializing with their peers while learning is taking place. |
What do we do in PE class? |
![]() Bridgeway students meet three times a week for 40 minute class periods. PE class always begins with warm-up stretches and exercises which target upper body and abdominal strength. We move on to a cardiovascular warm-up where we jog. The students learn and understand how to jog at a nice, easy pace. After our warm-up, the students participate in our skill and game based activities for the day, depending on our current unit. |
Being Prepared |
Safety is the most important part of PE, which is why it is required that students wear appropriate tennis shoes to class. We cannot allow children to participate in PE if they are wearing platform shoes, boots, dress shoes, or other heeled shoes. Please remind your child to wear tennis shoes on PE days or to put a pair in their backpack to bring to school so they can participate in all of the activities. Also, we need students to wear pants or shorts on their PE days. If a dress or skirt is worn, please make sure your child has a pair of shorts on underneath. |
