Math: This year your student will learn about fractions, place value, multiplication, and much, much more! Please invest in a set of multiplication flash cards, as they will be required to memorize these facts later in the year.
Social Studies: We will study units of government, economics, U.S. and world geography, diversity, and communities.
Reading: Our reading series will expose your children to a variety of fiction and nonfiction pieces and work on "reading to learn", rather than "learning to read" as younger grades do. We will focus on inferencing, cause and effect, vocabulary, and story elements.
Writing: Third graders will work on a lot of fun writing pieces. They will learn how to write personal narratives, friendly letters, compare and contrast, and much more. Weekly spelling lists will also be sent home.
Science: Units of study will include force and motion, the solar system, matter, and much more.
