Hello! Welcome to my website. My name is Carol Schmidle and I am the English Language Learner (ELL) Specialist at Bridgeway Elementary School. I teach language minority students how to listen, speak, read, and write English proficiently. At Bridgeway, we have language minority students from many different countries. We have students who speak Spanish, Urdu, Laos, Hindi, Mandarin, Amharic and Swahili. However, the majority of our language minority students speak Spanish. I encourage my students to learn to speak, read, and write in their native language so they can continue to be fluent in that language too.

Pattonville will celebrate English Language Learners Night on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Holman Middle School.  The celebration is from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Come and experience food from around the world and the International Club will provide the entertainment.  We hope to see you there.

At Bridgeway, we encourage our parents to be involved at school and there are many ways to accomplish this.  Parents can volunteer to help at school, join the PTA, or use their bilingual skills to contact parents. Whatever they choose to do, we are always grateful for their time and assistance, and their children will enjoy seeing then at Bridgeway.
